The processing style

Green tea is grown under the sunlight, whereas matcha is grown in the shade. If you compare two scoops of each of the eta, then you’ll notice the color. You’ll find green tea as dull green with a touch of brownish tone. Whereas, the matcha powder has a vibrant green color.

This happens because gree tea is harvested by a cutting machine and then sent straight away to the plant. The plant steams the leaves to stop fermentation and then blow-dried later. If you check Matcha, you’ll know that they are hand-picked by selecting only the best green tea leaves.

After carefully removing the veins and stems, the leaves are ground with matcha to make it into the organic matcha green tea

The style of preparation

Both matcha and green tea can be prepared hot or cold. The best way to prepare green tea is under a mild water temperature between 180-185 degrees Fahrenheit. Just steep for about 3 minutes, and you’re ready to sip.

However, Japanese matcha green tea powder is best served after a whisk in hot water. If you want to have it iced, then shake it in a matcha shaker.

The difference in taste

Organic matcha green tea is a soft powder. It has a sweeter, richer flavor in a frothy texture. However, you won’t find this in green tea. Green tea tastes fresh and light with an earthy or grassy undertone. Depending on how your green tea is prepared, sometimes it even tastes bitter.

By far, Matcha seems to be better than green tea.
